What is?

Red PREVEN is a network of health professionals formed by general physicians of different specialties, midwives, and pharmacies trained and committed to the prevention of STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies to strengthen the sexual and reproductive health in the country.

What’s the significance of Red PREVEN?

It means promising to promote the prevention of STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies in the communities and to conduct correct case management.

What is its mission?

The mission of Red PREVEN is to be a reference to provide information about STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies; to provide an opportune and effective treatment with quality products; and to have access to updated information that allows a response to consults with clarity and with respect.

Who can be members of Red PREVEN?

  • Medical professionals and midwives in private practice that have been trained and certified and which want to participate, and those who completed the affiliation form to the network.
  • Accredited pharmacies, which fill out the affiliation form to the network.

The affiliation form can be found through the PREVEN personnel in your city.

Where are we working and how many are in Red PREVEN?

Red PREVEN is working in 10 cities, and today there are more than 700 physicians and midwives and more than 600 pharmacies and affiliated boticas in the network.

What are the benefits to the members of Red PREVEN?

They will have a system to promote their services and products associated with the PREVEN network through posters, brochures, Web page, etc.

  • They will receive education material about STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies for their patients that will facilitate the interaction between them.
  • They will participate in the professional trainings about STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies through scholarships to local courses, national or international.
  • They will receive complimentary training in the areas of administration, marketing, interpersonal communications, inventory.
  • They will have access to the different courses offered by the School of Public Health and Administration of UPCH with special discounts.
  • They will have access to updated information in the areas of STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies through the Web page, contact with the experts, list of frequently asked questions, bulletins on the Internet, and documents provided by the World Health Organization.
  • They will have opportunities for socialization with other professionals, and they will receive periodic visits by our prevention visitors, which will provide informational materials, news, and will be used to collect members’ opinions, suggestions, and necessities.

What are the plans for Red PREVEN?

Now that this network of professionals committed to the health and prevention are getting together, the challenge is are we going to each community, and how can we can make this effort multi-sectorial and sustainable? For that we are proposing:

  • To affiliate new members to Red PREVEN to be professionals in action committed to the prevention of STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unintended pregnancies, and to strengthen the sexual and reproductive health of the country.
  • To involve and work together with different committed local institutions, which take care of the health population.
  • To participate in the different activities of prevention of STDs and HIV/AIDS in the main cities of the country.
  • To involve and work together with institutions of superior education (universities and institutes) in the prevention of STDs and HIV/AIDS.
  • To promote the collaborative work between the members of the network, community, and the regional governments in order that the topics of STDs, HIV/AIDS becomes a priority.
  • To promote the participation of the members of Red PREVEN in the different activities of prevention and control of STDs and HIV/AIDS in their cities.
