PREVEN, Community Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV/AIDS, is a joint effort among research scientists from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (Lima, Peru), the University of Washington (Seattle, USA) and Imperial College of London (UK), resulting from more than 10 years of collaborative work in the area of STD and HIV/AIDS.  

Preven is funded by the Wellcome Trust with additional financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the University of Washington Center for AIDS Research (UW CFAR).

• Reduce incidence of STDs and HIV in the general population.
• Develop innovative prevention strategies and mathematical models to measure population level impacts.
• Strengthen community and institutional capacities to address the STD/AIDS epidemic.
• Promote healthy sexual and reproductive health lifestyles.
